Accessibility

Using this site, however you use the web

We build and test this site so it works with a screen reader, a keyboard, or whatever setup you use. Here is what we do, what the last test found, and what is still open.

Our commitment

We aim at WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is the one we test against.

Everything on this site that carries information is real text. The California tint law, the warranty terms, the comparison tables, the prices we do not publish and the ones we explain in words. None of it is a picture of text, and none of it is a PDF you have to download. That is the single thing that decides whether a screen reader can read a site, and it is the thing we got right first.

Something not working? Tell us

This is the fastest way to get it fixed, and it goes to a person, not a queue.

  • Text or call (760) 881-5162 and say you are calling about the website.
  • Email vasken@round2refinish.com with "website accessibility" in the subject.
  • Or use the contact form and pick "Something else" — tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened.

If you tell us what you were using, a screen reader, voice control, a keyboard only, a phone, it helps us reproduce it faster. We will reply during shop hours.

What is on this site to help

The button in the bottom-left corner of every page opens a small panel with six options: larger text in two steps, high contrast, underlined links, a more readable font, reduced motion, and a bigger cursor. Your choices are saved on your own device and stay on when you come back.

Being straight about what that panel is: it helps people with low vision, dyslexia or motion sensitivity. It does nothing for someone using a screen reader, because a screen reader user never opens it. What serves a blind visitor is the markup underneath, which is why we test that separately and why it is the first thing in this page.

It is our own code, running on this site. It is not one of the third-party accessibility overlay widgets. Those have been named in lawsuits and the Federal Trade Commission fined one of the largest of them in 2025 for overstating what it delivered. An overlay does not fix the code beneath it.

How we test, and what the last test found

Tested 24 September 2026, in Google Chrome on macOS, across all pages of this site.

  • Automated scan: no issues found. axe-core against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA rule sets plus best-practice rules, on every page at 390 px and 1280 px wide.
  • Automated scan with things open: no issues found. The same scan run again with the mobile menu open, the services dropdown open, the photo viewer open, a gallery filter applied, the FAQ answers expanded, the accessibility panel open, and the contact form showing its validation errors.
  • Layout: no issues found. Every page rendered at 360, 390, 768, 1024, 1280, 1920 and 2560 px wide with no sideways scrolling and no content cut off.
  • Keyboard. Every control on the site can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible. Dialogs trap focus while open, return it when closed, and close on Escape.
  • Photo descriptions: rewritten 24 September 2026. This was the open item on the last version of this page. All 57 photos on the gallery and the service pages now describe the work in the picture, which panels are off the car, where one finish stops and the chrome or the second color starts, what the paint is reflecting, instead of only naming the car and the color.

What is still open

The honest list, as at 24 September 2026. If one of these is affecting you, tell us and it moves up.

  • Some photo descriptions stop short of naming the service. The descriptions were rewritten on 24 September 2026 and now describe the work, which closes the item that used to sit here. What is left is deliberate: a description only says a photo shows Peel Clear, window tint, ceramic coating or paint protection film when our own post of that car said so. For the rest we describe the car, the finish and the shop and stop there. We would rather tell you less than tell you something we cannot back up, but it does mean a few photos say less than they could.
  • The background video on the home page has no captions or description. It is decorative and carries no information that is not also written on the page, and it can be switched off with the reduce-motion option. It is still on the list.
  • The map on the contact page is an embedded Google map, which we do not control. The full address, written directions and a link that opens your own maps app are all there as text next to it.
  • We have not had an independent audit. Everything above is our own testing. We are not going to describe it as certified, because it is not.

How often we check

We run the automated scans whenever we change the site, and we re-check the whole thing at least every three months. This page gets updated with the date and the findings each time, including the things we have not fixed yet.

An honest note

No website is perfectly accessible and we are not going to claim this one is. We aim at WCAG 2.2 AA, we test for it, and we fix what we find. If something here does not work for you, the fastest way to get it fixed is to tell us about it.
